Dr. Michael E. Kirk is a board certified Licensed Clinical Psychologist. His education, training, experience, and expertise have contributed to his success while working with individuals who require assistance in addressing personal, family, or work-related problems and redesigning their lives toward making distinct improvements in the way they think and live. The practice of Clinical psychology is an endeavor that allows people to look at what they are doing, analyze how and why they are doing it, and make improved decisions upon why and how they typically do and then could make these decisions, and thus behaviors, better. People are often drawing upon past learning and behaviors for sizing up and interacting within current situations that often require more up to date decision-making. Improved decision making is one of the answers to a better life. Recognizing the ability and the "how" to do this is one of the strategies of applied clinical psychology and the method that will allow you to become a happier, stronger, healthier, and more successful individual.
Dr. Michael E. Kirk attended the prestigious University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. He then graciously accepted admittance to the California School of Professional Psychology-Los Angeles, where he earned a Masters degree in Clinical Health Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Dr. Kirk completed a two year residency at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles and a year residency at Ingleside Psychiatric Hospital in Rosemead, CA. Dr. Kirk has been married for over 36 years years, has three children and four granddaughters He is well-renowned for his expertise in applied parenting, assisting parents into becoming more insightful, patient, and empowered individuals and partners. He exhibits phenomenal skill in assisting young people in learning to recognize how to more effectively handle their life decision-making process and thus improve their overall functioning with their families, parents, academics and social experiences. Dr. Kirk also specializes in postpartum therapy, while drawing upon his early childhood and developmental psychology training and experience. His professional insight, skill, and clinical perception with assisting adults to maneuver through one's problem has enabled many individuals to move on with a happy, successful and rewarding life. Dr. Kirk continues to write monthly articles for the Kern Family Magazine.
